HEINEKEN GREEN PINT - ECO PUB

Introducing the 'Green Pint’

As a HEINEKEN SmartDispense customer we are a part of a new worldwide movement

The ‘Green Pint’ scheme.

QUALITY In the UK, enjoying a pint in a pub is a cultural institution and one which will always be in demand.

We know that a you will only buy a second pint based on the quality of the first.

That is why we invested in Heineken smart dispense from our opening.

Following limited innovation in dispense for decades, HEINEKEN overhauled every part of the standard dispense system. The result was SmartDispense, representing a new standard for draught cider and beer dispense.

By cooling and insulating from keg to tap, SmartDispense is the best way to deliver great quality draught cider and beer. It’s unique cooling systems saves on energy, NS saves on waste – all while delivering consistently colder quality pints.

SUSTAINABLE HEINEKEN has been around for over 150 years, and we know that to be around for another 150 years will only be possible if they continue to innovate sustainably.

Brewing a Better World is a long-term sustainability strategy, driving big brewing companies to address social and environmental issues.

SmartDispense plays a key role in our ‘Drop the C’ CO2 reduction programme and our ‘Every Drop’ water efficiency programme.

By cooling cider and beer from the moment it leaves the keg, SmartDispense cuts cider, beer, water and chemical waste by 75% and reduces our energy usage by as much as 20% compared to a traditional beer system. SmartDispense systems are installed in approximately 4,000 pubs and bars across the UK. In the first five years since launch, SmartDispense has saved 72 million pints of water from going down the drain.

Most pubs and bars use draught cooling systems to deliver chilled beer from the cellar to the glass, but they are notoriously wasteful. Research suggests that over 90% of the energy used to maintain the temperature in a pub's cellar is wasted.

On top of that, landlords need to maintain the cooling systems by cleaning their beer lines every week. The weekly clean and a lack of expertise among publicans means that, on average, 75% of the water, cleaning chemicals and beer used during the cleaning process is wasted.

All of these factors contribute to why you will always receive a perfect pint at the Robin Hood pub, everytime

All this is part of Heineken's ambition to be the world's greenest brewer. Part of the company's commitment is to make as little environmental impact as possible through its supply chain, from grain to glass. This includes reducing waste wherever possible
